The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks were a small Kurdish Free Syrian Army group operating in Aleppo governorate. It was founded in January 2013 by members of the Kurdish Youth Movement, an activist organization close to the Kurdish National Council. It joined the Kurdish Military Council in April. As many of its fellow KMC members, the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks were critical of the PYD/YPG but recognized the Kurdish Supreme Committee and condemned rebel attacks on the YPG; later it successfully advocated for cooperation with the YPG against jihadi groups.
