Saraya Jarabulus was a small Free Syrian Army unit operating in Aleppo. It was formed by fighters originally from the city of Jarabulus, which was conquered by ISIS in June 2013. Furat Jarabulus, the main FSA group in the city prior to its occupation by ISIS, tried to retake it as part of the Euphrates Islamic Liberation Front, but the operation was a failure and the EILF dissolved. Some Furat Jarabulus members then joined with other ex-Jarabulus fighters to create a new group, Saraya Jarabulus. This formation was a founding member of the Euphrates Volcano operations room and took part in the defense of Kobanî during its siege by ISIS (now "IS"). After the siege was broken and IS was pushed out of Kobanî canton, most Saraya Jarabulus fighters returned to Furat Jarabulus, but a few remained separate. Saraya Jarabulus became part of the Euphrates Brigades upon their formation in June 2015 and participated in the liberation of Jarabulus in August 2016.
